Two-thirds of the British workforce would lie on their applications to get the job, research has found.

A survey conducted by recruitment site Monster.co.uk, questioning 3,800 people, revealed that four in 10 respondents lie about their reasons for leaving a job, 18% lie about their current salary and 10% about their qualifications.

The Risk of Fraud

Research by CIFAS (UK's Fraud Prevention Service) shows that staff fraud can have a negative impact on businesses in terms of their reputation, costs and customer service.

CIFAS added “As a result, staff fraud is now emerging as the single most significant fraud risk both to the financial services industry and to businesses handling financial transactions. It is also a serious risk to all businesses.”

The most common inaccuracies

A recent study showed that the most common inaccuracies on CVs were in employment history (79 per cent of candidates with discrepancies), academic history (40 per cent) and financial and personal background (30 per cent).
